Why It is Important to Hire Orange County Experts in Your Home Wine Cellar Cooling Installation Project
One of the main reasons wine becomes undrinkable is because it was not stored in a stable environment. Correct storage conditions are the key to preserving the desirable characteristics of wine for many years to come. Vintage Cellars, one of our wine cellar dealers in Los Angeles, collaborated with M&M wine cellar systems in completing a wine cellar cooling installation in Orange County.
How Experts Can Help in Wine Cellar Cooling Installation Projects in Orange County
Some wine collectors and builders lack knowledge about the importance of optimum conditions in the proper aging of the wine. The key to preserving wine’s quality is by storing it in a room equipped with a reliable wine cellar cooling unit.
At Custom Wine Cellars Los Angeles, we have been working with wine cooling specialists who have extensive knowledge and expertise in installing wine cellar cooling systems. Factors to be accounted for when choosing a climate control system are:
- size and location of the room
- number of bottles intended to be stored in the cellar
- owner’s preference (whether they want the cooling equipment to be visible in the wine room or not)
- budget
After making a careful assessment of our client’s needs, your chosen builder should be able to determine the size, style, and brand of refrigeration system that meet your requirements.
Successful Wine Cellar Cooling Installation Project in Orange County
In their recent project, M&M Cellar Systems, one of the most trusted wine refrigeration experts in California, was hired by Vintage Cellars to complete a wine cellar cooling unit installation project in Orange County.
Challenges in Cooling the Wine Room
Challenges are common in building a wine cellar. In this particular project, the room is small (with dimensions: 16 feet wide x 5 feet deep x 9 feet high) and designed with a custom glass door.
These factors made it quite hard for the M&M Cellar Systems and Vintage Cellars to determine the correct wine refrigeration system.
Space and Glass Front
They had to find a cooling unit with a capacity to achieve 1000 British Thermal Unit (BTU) required to reach the optimum wine cellar conditions.
They also considered the glass areas when calculating the thermal load of your wine room. This is because glass is a poor insulator and has a low R-value (a measurement of how a material can prevent heat from flowing through the ducts).
Meeting the Client Request and Finding a Place for the Evaporator
Since the client requested a fully-ducted wine cellar cooling system, the builders integrated a fully-ducted commercial grade HS refrigeration system into the design.
The original plan was to place the equipment in the attic. However, they discovered that the air handler for the home was already in the attic, so they revised the design. They decided to hide the evaporator in a grill cover and box within the racking.
Smart Choice of Wine Cellar Cooling System
Vintage Cellars chose another cooling system: the SLD Split System Slimline model with 10200 BTU installed by M&M Cellar Systems. Designed to cool wine cellar with medium to high temperatures, this climate control system offers versatility.
Installation of the unit was easy. M&M Cellar Systems mounted it on the wall horizontally and concealed it in a custom grill cover and box.
Features of the Home Wine Cellar
When choosing your wine racks and door, you have to make sure that the design, style, and material fit your requirements. You can prevent an emotionally regretful experience by working with a creative and experienced designer like Vintage Cellars.
Stylish Custom Wine Rack Design Used for a Home Wine Cellar Cooling Installation Project in Orange County
Wine racks can be modular or customized. However, if you want your wine storage and display area to stand out from the rest and enhance the value of your home, customizing your wine racks is the best option. It allows you to incorporate your own design to add a personalized touch to your wine room.
A stunning display area can be achieved by combining various bottle configurations. A creative designer should be able to determine which racking styles can be combined to create a spectacular wine display for your wine collection.
Combining Contemporary and Traditional Racking for Added Functionality and Enhanced Visual Appeal
In this home wine cellar installation project in Orange County, the client wanted a combination of modern and traditional racking in his wine cellar. To meet this requirement, Vintage Cellars utilized wood and stainless steel rods for the wine racks.
They also combined diamond bins, horizontal racks, case storage, and single bottle racks. With form and function in mind, they were able to come up with a design that could impress guests.
Vintage Cellars added a rolling library ladder to help the owner access the wine at the top of the racking with ease.
Left and Right Walls
Both the left and right walls have the same bottle configurations. The lower section consists of solid diamond bins made from wood. This type of bottle orientation is recommended for storing wines in bulk. It allows the owner to manage his collection easily and conveniently.
The top section consists of horizontal wine racks made from stainless steel rods. This modern feature adds character to the wine cellar. The only difference between the left and right walls is the space in the upper section of the left wall where the cooling equipment was hidden.
Back Wall
The back wall is where the longest racking was installed. The center consists of an archway and a mirror behind it. Vintage cellars provided a space for the owner’s accessories such as wine glasses and decanters.
Around the archway, you will find horizontal display rows made from stainless steel rods, like the ones at the top section of the sidewalls. A tabletop runs the middle section of the back wall. This feature is ideal for small wine cellars. It provides a space for decanting and serving wine.
The bottom racking is double deep to maximize the storage capacity of the room. Vintage Cellars added size rolling case storage bin cases. The left and right sides consist of individual wine racks. For each cubicle, the owner can store two bottles.
Custom Wine Cellar Door
The client wanted to have a clear view of his wine collection from outside the cellar. Vintage Cellars installed a full-width glass door. The left and right sides of the double entryway are two large glass windows.
The glass panels were insulated and dual paned to prevent condensation. Vintage Cellars equipped the door with weather stripping to help seal the room. The frames were constructed from wrought iron.
